HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
One true thing that has resonated for centuries: Home is where the heart is.
I started what was to be my June blog post while I sat at my mother’s dining room table, overcome by a vivid sense of comfort, connection, and care shared over the decades. These emotions conjured an enormity of memories and filled me with immense gratitude.
I began to think about how one could design such an emotionally resonant place in their own home. How can we set the scene for the memories that we and our loved ones will cherish for years to come?
It starts the way all good design does: with intuition and intention. Consider how you wish to feel in your home, and those discoveries will drive and focus every aesthetic decision you make. Alongside this process, think about how your favorite shapes, textures, colors, and patterns can inform the space, making it truly your own. By staying in tune with yourself, you will naturally create an authentically beautiful home that tells a story of self-expression.
Observe the natural light emanating from the windows, and arrange your space to enjoy its glow. Seek opportunities to create cozy spaces or to emphasize the grandeur of a room’s soaring ceilings or ornate moldings. If your space lacks architectural detail, consider calling in a professional to create custom finishes on walls or add exquisite woodwork.
