HOW KATIE WILLIAMS IS CREATING A NEW WAVE OF DESIGN POSSIBILITIES
Katie Williams joined Donna Elle Design 7 years ago, but for her this journey began decades before that. Long are the days she remembers as a child playing in her mother’s textile library creating color schemes and playing “designer”. Now a Senior Designer for the firm, Katie prides herself on the end goal of every client experience – turning a house into a home. A simple concept on the surface that requires a unique talent to achieve. For Katie, each client reveals their own individual needs and lifestyle. It is her ability to take those unique qualities and translate them into something tangible, creating a space that offers her clients a distinct interpretation of “home”.
HOW KATIE WORKS WITH CLIENTS
Whether in-person or virtually, Katie personalizes the client experience by uncovering the dynamic characteristics of their lifestyle. Each new client – designer relationship begins with a welcome call to determine the collective goal. Katie begins the conceptual phase with a mood board to convey the overall design concept and renders a scaled floor plan to determine fixture and furniture placement. Once the design direction is determined, she creates furniture, paint and lighting schedules, and specifies floor, wall and ceiling finishes. Katie collaborates with contractors and vendors to ensure a shared approach to the design process. She maintains open communication with the client each step of the way to guarantee transparency and accountability.
KATIE’S SUCCESS STORIES
Katie has completed many design projects that have brought both herself and her client’s great joy. Here are the highlights of some of her work:
Reimagining a dining room, a living room and a den in Falmouth, MA. Katie brought function and design to life by tapping into the day-to-day of a home dweller and her young son to create flow, provide comfort, and offer connection in not one but three unique spaces. Deliverables: Floor plan, design concept mood board, paint palette, furnishing schedule.
A full renovation of a colonial style home in Sandwich, MA. Katie reimagined the existing kitchen and dining room into a two-room kitchen workspace for a family of four that includes a custom built-in pantry, a coffee bar, dual islands, and an added row of windows to create an open, bright and practical working/living environment. Deliverables: Floor plan, design concept mood board, paint and lighting schedule, furnishing schedule, shopping list, paint samples.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT KATIE
Katie services clients on Cape Cod, the South Shore and beyond. She loves working on renovations large and small and welcomes a design project that is both creative and challenging. She is proficient in SketchUp, a 3D rendering platform that aids her in visualizing the potential of any space and is a critical tool in communicating design ideas with clients. Katie has a passion for virtual design for its fast-paced flow and ease for today’s busy home-dweller. Katie has a natural ability to connect with others, is an active listener and a true creative at-heart. She lives in Weymouth with her husband and two children and enjoys being outdoors, exploring new spaces and places, and LOVES coffee.
