For Donna Elle, principal of her eponymous interior design firm, Nantucket has always been a source of inspiration. “Nothing influences my design sensibilities like the changing New England seasons and the people who collectively open up their soul print, leaving both opportunity and challenges for design and change,” she says.
A collaborative, full-service firm, Donna Elle Design specializes in design-build, renovations and new construction with a holistic approach and multigenerational perspective, expressed through collaboration with her daughter Katie Williams.
With a focus on coastal inspired living, Elle takes on a wide range of projects, like the recent renovation of a 5,000 square-foot, four-story, 1800s era historic home in the heart of downtown Nantucket with panoramic harbor views from the home’s iconic widow’s walk. Another recent project involved a new build, including a main and guest house with ocean views and a pool area outfitted with a custom outdoor hearth, pergola-covered dining area, chaise loungers and pillow-laden daybeds for a sublime indoor-outdoor lifestyle. “It encompasses the essence of easy island living on this exclusive family compound,” said Williams.
In addition to her esteemed full-service design program, Donna Elle Design recently introduced DESIGN ID, an e-design solution, tailor made and delivered directly to the client’s door with virtual design consultations, bridging the gap between homeowner and their design goals. “It’s truly a process of evolution,” says Elle. “To sustain, we must adapt to the shifting needs of people and keep a glistening eye to the lives they live.
